Aero Club of India (ACI) is the apex body of all Flying Clubs/Institutions engaged in Flying Training and Aero-Sports in the country. It is one of the Sports Federations recognized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. ACI being the NAC, It represents India on the International Organisation- Federation Aeronautique Internationale (FAI) which is the world governing body for the control and guidance of the Aero sports and aviation sporting activities.
The history of ACI is as old as that of the Aviation in this country. It was formed in 1928, the same year when the four Flying Clubs in the Metropolitan Cities-Mumbai, Kolkotta, Delhi and Karachi were established. It is registered under the Companies Act and is managed by duly elected representatives of the Flying Clubs, Gliding Clubs and other organizations engaged in Aero sports.
